Six Sigma Methodology

First let me state that the Six Sigma Methodology is not for the faint of heart. Six Sigma is an intense, rigorous program, which entails thorough comprehensive inspections of every aspect of your organization for the mailroom all the way up to the boardroom. Six Sigma mythologies will set ambitious objectives and will measure an organizations performance in a way that it will force accountability. No longer will the management team be complacent.

As I was told by my MBB, Six Sigma is a mirror, which forces every member of an organization to look at themselves and their performance. And at first, you will not like what you see. She went on to explain our comfort zones within the company will be removed---for everyone. However, after the implantations were accomplished and our first project gains made acceptance and culture changes occurred. Bonuses increased, discrepancies were reduced by almost 92%, and our bottom line increased nearly as much. The early discomforts, anxieties, and stress gave way to success, and opportunities for improvement. Overall, the enthusiastic level within the company grew to an infectious stage.

The Six Sigma methodology has a dual function: It teaches companies how to collect data, interpret this data and present it in ways that it becomes a tool to which the company can improve their processes. By utilizing both hard and soft data, an organization can formulate solid improvement, which will permit the company to reduce errors, increase customer satisfaction, and value.
